Life changes!!
The pain started on Thursday, the week before my mock project presentation. It was mild. I felt mild pain while sitting down. Thought it was a normal pain and ignored it. Even my walking style had changed. Kitty(KP) had asked me why i was walking in a different manner; I had thought it was due to the stress and tiredness. As each day progressed the pain went increasing. Prostrating was painful too. I had thoughts that piles was building up and was scared. Finally the presentation was over. Fever was something common those days. I used to ignore as I had bigger jobs to concentrate on.
3 days went by without any work in the training center. Finally I got a mail saying I was transferred to Hyderabad. It was the shock of life. I didn't know how to react. I called up mom, she too was shocked. I thought they would be asking our preferences before posting us. Again, this shock covered my pain. Next day, I thought of talking and persuading the person in-charge of transfers. But as soon as I came into cafeteria my friend told that it is very difficult to get a transfer if it is not on mutual basis. Again I was shaken, but I had hopes. My parents didn't want me that far from them(specially mom)... I had food and went to the RMG office and the person was yet to come. I had to wait for her. Meanwhile I consulted senior people about getting posted in bangalore, but nobody gave a positive satisfying reply. Finally the person arrived. People flocked her and I knew she wouldn't like being flocked as soon as she arrived.. I heard that she didn't oblige swap. That ended my dream about being in bangalore. Thought i would talk about my parent's situation and ask her to post me back in bangalore, but I knew she would not oblige. The pain was out of my mind. Finally after all the circus for swap with one fellow, I left Bangalore office, dejected. Thought it was my last visit to the office. Again, I had no notice of the pain. Finally got into bus, felt very bad....
After coming back home, I had severe pain. Couldn't control it; but somehow managed to sleep. I hadn't spoken about this pain to anyone. Next day the pain became un-bearable and I decided to tell it to mom and I did. She advised me to apply some oil and thought it was due to heat.
I did apply oil and yet there was no improvement. Finally the day had come when I had to leave. The pain was gradually growing. Mom decided to take me to a doctor. The doctor examined me and said that it was nothing like piles or anything and the pain was due to some external damage. He gave me tablets and advised me to use a special cushion.
Evening I left for airport, took the flight and landed safely in Hyderabad. I took a taxi to reach the hotel. Things were fine, but I was heavily missing mom. Guess that hid the pain then. I reached hotel room. My friend was waiting for me. We had dinner and retired to bed. The pain started. Next day I had to be in office. We walked our way to office. The pain was there. I couldn't sit for long, was feeling uncomfortable. Somehow managed my day in office. I also was taken to hospital for a drug test. Finally after returning to room, I called up mom and informed about the pain. I was very hesitant to inform her as she easily worries about anything and everything related to me. But I had to, as the pain was getting worse. She advised me to consult a doctor. I also told my friend about the problem I was facing. Night, I had some bleeding. Felt very sick and tired. I got the usual fever. I sweated out so much that the whole bed became wet. I had nightmares. This happened for 3 days. Finally on Saturday I decided to visit the doctor. Went to Apollo hospital and met Dr.Anish Anand. He examined me and asked me to consult one surgeon Dr.Ramesh.
Dr.Ramesh examined me and asked me to take a course of 'iv' antibiotic (the one that is given through veins). Little did I know that I had to take it in veins. I went to the pharmacy to buy it and there I had one more shock, each vial was 2.4k rupees. I didn't have enough money. I had to ask my friend for the remaining amount and he willingly helped me. I took the injection. Had bit of pain in hands.
That night the situation was same. In fact it aggravated so much that I didn't sleep for a minute. Was waiting to call up mom. Finally called her up at 4.45 AM and cried my pain out. She asked me to come back asap. Sunday also I took the injection. I called up my manager and asked him for a transfer. He suggested me that transfer is out of his hands and I should talk to the HR manager regarding this. I called up the HR manager by evening and spoke to him. Even my parents called him up and spoke to him. He was willing to transfer me. But here started a new problem. My room-mate, friend and colleague also started saying that he wanted a transfer as he couldn't live alone there. I couldn't say much. I told him, if we both tried then neither of us could get the transfer. Moreover I really needed the transfer as this pain was getting worse and I needed parental care. I got my tickets booked by night.
Next day morning I was supposed to meet the HR manager(who was in new office), my friend asked me to continue and said he'll be going to the old office and continue with his work. I also had to meet the doctor to get the certificate. I left early for breakfast and then I got a call from my friend saying that he too wanted to come with me to the hospital and he too wanted to meet the HR manager and request for the transfer. I was taken aback, but I couldn't do much.
We left to the hospital and I got the certificate. My friend was waiting for this blood test(he said he had some breathing problem; I really don't want to comment on it).As I was getting late for my flight, I left alone to the office. I had also booked a taxi to take me to the airport.
As I reached the office and met the manager, the manager got a call and it was from my friend. The manager was reviewing my medical documents. My friend requested for a transfer on same grounds. The HR manager got very angry and started shouting. I could feel my chances of transfer fading away....(fate always triumphs).
Manager said that he wont consider my case and that he wanted to talk with his superior before deciding on this(he thought I was playing some kind of game) I requested him as much as I could.... But nothing changed. I felt very bad, helpless and somehow I controlled my tears.
I wanted to take the print out of the tickets. By that time, my friend also reached this office. I didn't want to talk to him. He went and spoke to the HR manager and nothing really happened. Then I spoke to the RMG manager in Bangalore. She asked me why I didn't tell about all this before the transfer. I had to tell her that the problem was not this serious. Finally she told me transfer she would look into the matter and get back to me(she had thought I was from TN).
My flight ticket wasn't there in my mailbox.. So I called up my cousin to mail it. But even though she mailed it, I didn't receive it. Felt very very very bad and sad. She then said that she'll fax me. Luckily there was a fax machine and I got my tickets. I thanked god and left the office. My taxi was waiting and I finally reached my room, took my luggage and left for the airport. After reaching the airport, I realized that there was still 2 hours for the flight to depart. As I hadn't had my lunch, I had a fruit bowl. Pain was there all the way. Finally the boarding for the flight started. I prayed god that nothing bad should happen.
After landing at Bangalore airport, I took a taxi and reached home. My uncle then took me to a hospital to administer the 'iv' injection. After that I came back home and rested. Pain was still with me.
Next day I had to get the region scanned as suggested by Dr.Ramesh. My uncle took me to the scanning center and I had the scan. The doctor there asked me, how I managed with the ailment for so long. The report suggested that there was abscess formation which had to be drained out. Mom had left Mysore and was coming there. She had planned to take me to Mysore the following day. Dad also came that afternoon and got the tickets booked. I went to the hospital by evening to get my 'iv'. That night the pain was weird, it was aching lightly. I couldn't sleep all the night. By 4 AM I felt something was wrong. The puss collection had opened up and the bleeding had started. I was shocked. Lot of blood oozed out. I slept upside down. My uncle contacted a doctor who in turn suggested a gastrointestinal surgeon.
That surgeon would come only after 1.30. Finally I somehow managed to pull on till afternoon and I was taken to hospital. The surgeon as soon as he saw me told that its too late and I had to get operated immediately.
